Police refutes, say no stone pelting took place

Srinagar: Stones were pelted at People’s Democratic Party convention in Chawalgam areas of Kulgam district on Sunday in which two workers of the party were injured.

Ironically, police denied that any stone pelting too place.

“There was no stone pelting on the convention. It went on peacefully,” said Shridhar Patil, SSP Kulgam.

The convention was taking place inside the premises of the Dak Bunglow amid tight security. According to eyewitnesses, stones were hurled on the gathering in which two people were injured.

The convention was organized by the PDP MLA from Damhal-Hanjipora, Abdul Majeed Padder in Chawalgam. Minister of Rural development Abdul Haq Khan, Nazir Laway, PDP’s Rajya Sabha member were also present at the convention.

Eye witnesses said that due to the incident the convention was disrupted however, it was back on track after things were brought under control.

Doctors at the District Hospital Kulgam said that two persons with minor head injuries were treated in the hospital.
