To save JK from a catastrophe, peace between India-Pak imperative: Abdullah

‘Mehbooba is begging people to come to Kashmir, won’t yield anything’

Srinagar: President of the National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that in order to save Jammu and Kashmir peace between India and Pakistan is imperative.

Abdullah, who is contesting the parliamentary seat from Srinagar in the upcoming by-polls pointed out that in order to save the country from a ‘catastrophe’, all religious communities will have to join hands. NC President was referring to the recent victory of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

“Friendly-ties between India and Pakistan are imperative to ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir, “Abdullah said while addressing working at Nawa-e-Subh, the party headquarter.

He added, “In case isolation continues between the two countries, the nation is bound to witness any catastrophe. This nation belongs to everyone and the leaders must get united by the hearts to save it from any catastrophe.”

 

“This nation belongs to all communities and religions, not to any single religion. We all have to be together and fight against the fire that has engulfed the nation. All the leaders have to be together”, said Abdullah while referring to the recent poll victories of the BJP

 

The former Chief Minister while pointing towards the victories of the BJP in the polls across the mainland, Abdullah said that all religious communities need to join hands to save the nation from a catastrophe.

“If we have to save this nation from the catastrophe and fire which is being sparked in the country, all the people of different religions have to get together. This nation belongs to all communities and religions, not to any single religion. We all have to be together and fight against the fire that has engulfed the nation. All the leaders have to be together,” he said.

Abdullah compared Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s recent meeting with film stars in Mumbai to begging and said that such visits won’t yield anything.

“Our Chief Minister is begging before people to visit Kashmir. I want to tell her that whosoever wants to visit here would visit. Such visits to the state won’t yield anything,” said Abdullah.

While holding hands with JKPCC chief G A Mir, The NC President told the party workers that they have to make him victorious in the by-polls.

“You (NC workers) will vote and support our candidate G A Mir and ensure his win in the by-elections.”
