PDP Leader’s Brother Found Dead In Srinagar Hotel

Srinagar: A restaurant owner was found dead in a Srinagar hotel on Thursday morning. The deceased was the brother of a PDP leader from Kupwara district.

Identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Mohi ud Din Dar, he was a 36-year-old bachelor. The Dar family lives in Handwara.

“He was unmarried and ran a small restaurant in the tourist resort of Gulmarg for a year now,” sources close to family told the FreePress Kashmir.

J&K Police spokesperson said that Reyaz was found dead in a hotel in Dalgate area of summer capital this morning.

“The police have started investigations (to know cause of death) under 174 provision of CRPC,” he told the FreePress Kashmir.

He added that Reyaz was the younger brother of PDP’s Handwara Zonal president, Muhammad Shafi Dar.

The locals of Handwara termed Reyaz as a “good person”.

A security official, who insisted to remain anonymous, said, “The (Dar) family is protected and Reyaz was living in the hotel for quite some time now.”

It may be recalled here that hundreds of pro-India political parties’ activists have shifted their bases to Srinagar “because of the security situation” prevalent in valley.
