Sabzar Killing Backlash: Resistance Leadership calls for two-day shutdown, ‘Tral Chalo’ on May 30

Srinagar: The joint resistance leadership has called for a two-day shutdown against the killings of six militants in Uri and two militants in Tral. One civilian was killed in the aftermath, in Tral and injuring of dozens.

Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik on Saturday in a statement asked people to march towards Tral – the home town of two Hizb ul Mujahideen militants killed today.

Hizb commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and his aide Faizan Muzaffar Bhat were killed in Saimoo village of Tral. A civilian was also killed during near the gun fight site.

Six suspected militants were killed in Rampur sector of Uri early today, the army claimed.

In a statement, the joint resistance camp leaders called for a complete shutdown in the Valley on May 28, 29 (Sunday and Monday).

They also called for a march to Tral on May 30, to pay tributes to Sabzar and other militants.

It may be recalled here that it was after the death of popular Hizb commander, Burhan Wani, on July 08, 2016 that the resistance leadership started issuing weekly “protest calendars” and people followed it for at least four months.
