7 Cops injured in Sopore Grenade Attack, say police

Srinagar: At least six cops of Jammu and Kashmir police were injured in a grenade attack in Baramulla’s Sopore town.

Speaking to the FreePressKashmir, Superintendent of Police Sopore, Harmeet Singh Mehta , said, “our six to seven men were injured in the grenade blast.”

Mehta informed that the grenade blast took off near branch of J&K Bank in Sopore.

Suspected to be a militant attack, the grenade was hurled at a police party outside the Sopore police station, resulting in injuries to the cops.

Four of the seven injured cops were identified as Noor Muhamad, Bilal Ahmad, Abdul Rehman and Ghulam Hassan.

The injured cops were shifted to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.

“We have started the investigations,” Mehta replied when asked about the attack.
