Srinagar: The Indian army has handed over two Kashmiri students to Pakistan army on Wednesday.
The two students – of 13 and 14 years of age – had mistakenly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.
The students returned home at Chelhana crossing point in Teetwal sector in Karnah.
The Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) authorities, relatives of the two students and police officers were also present on the occasion.
14-year-old Wasalat and Iftikhar belong to Samari Tarban Jora village of Neelum valley.
The parents of the students expressed their gratitude to the authorities of India and Pakistan for this human gesture.
The duo students had crossed the LoC at Neelum valley and thids part of Kashmir on May 23.
The Indian army kept the duo in custody for six days before handing them over to the PaK authorities today.
It may be recalled that this is not the first instance wherein people living along LoC cross the de facto border. However, many a times such steps result turn to be fatal.
