Srinagar: The J&K Government has directed the authorities of schools and colleges in Kashmir to resume class work on Monday. However, it has shut down two schools in summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

It was in reaction to massive anti-India protest demonstrations by students that the government was ‘forced’ to shut schools for almost 35 days since April 15.

Forcing their entry in to a government run Degree College in Pulwama on April 15, the Indian army soldiers fired tear gas shells and pellets to break protests by the students who protested against the army men.

At least fifty students including girls were injured in the forces action.

Normal class work will resume in all the government run Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) and Degree Colleges in Srinagar district from Monday, the government said today.

However, the class work would continue to remain suspended at SP and MP Higher Secondary schools on Monday, officials said.

“Normal class work will resume in all the colleges and HSSs of Srinagar district from Monday except SP and MP HSS,” Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone told KNS.
