Srinagar: The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that in order to ensure maximum possible security to the Amarnath Yatris and to address all the security issues with regard to the annual Amarnath Yatra at base camps and en-route, “enhanced CAPF and police deployment is being charted out”.

DG Police Dr SP Vaid was chairing a high level meeting of police and Central Armed Police Forces officers, convened at PHQ to discuss the security arrangements put in place for the smooth and peaceful Amarnath Yatra 2017.

Addressing the officers present in the meeting that fool proof security arrangements should be put in place for the routes and the base camps to ensure safety of Yatris.

At least two lakh Hindus have registered themselves for this year’s Yatra via Baltal and Chandwari routes in Kashmir.

“The deployment and security of the vulnerable areas should be strengthened to thwart any mischief by the ANEs and the militants,” he told the meeting, “enhanced CAPF deployment is being made.”

The DGP directed that langers should not be allowed along the Srinagar-Jammu highway in view of the security of Yatris.
