EduMin Altaf Bukhari assures full support to VCs to revamp JK’s higher educational scenario

Srinagar: Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday said that the state government is committed to provide full financial support for the development of Cluster University Jammu (CUJ) and Cluster University Srinagar (CUS) to make the universities fully functional.

This was stated by Bukhari during a review meeting of the functioning of CUJ and CUS and the constituent colleges of both universities which was attended by Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asghar Samoon, Vice Chancellors of CUJ, CUS and Director Colleges (Higher Education) on Thursday, an official spokesperson said this evening.

During the meeting, the release and utilization of funds under RUSA, CAPEX Plan and Revenue budget were discussed for the development of both universities.

The Minister deliberated upon the appointment of Controller of Examinations for both the universities.

He was appraised about the deputation of first Registrars of Cluster universities, orders of which have been already issued by Higher Education Department.

Bukhari assured the VCs that non teaching staff in both the universities will be provided shortly for the administrative and office work in the universities.

In a separate meeting, the education minister reviewed the functioning of Central University Kashmir (CUK) and the achievements it made from its establishment since 2009.

Land Lease agreement of CUK signed on June 08, 2017 in presence of Education Minister Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Higher Education, Dr Asghar Samoon, Vice Chancellor CUK and Registrar CUK.

The minister was informed that the central university Kashmir presently enrolls about 1700 students in 37 various courses and many 5-year integrated courses are being taught in the university.

On the occasion, the lease agreement was executed between government of Jammu and Kashmir and MHRD through VC CUK for land measuring 4024 Kanals at Tulmulla, Ganderbal for permanent campus of the central university.

During the meeting, the VC also apprised the minister about the different issues and problems faced by the university in its functioning. The VC was assured by the minister that all possible help and measures would be taken to ensure hassle free functioning of the university.

He also assured to resolve all the pending issues in a shortest possible time for the betterment of the institution.

Many other officers including Registrar and Dean Academics of the central university were present on this occasion.
