SOG man shot dead in Kulgam

Shabir Ahmad, a JKP constable, was shot dead outside his home in Bogund area of Kulgam district on June 15, 2017.

Srinagar: A cop of Jammu and Kashmir police was shot dead on Wednesday by unidentified gun men.

Police and reports said that suspected militants opened fire and killed a policeman in Kulgam district in South of Srinagar.

Kulgam is almost 50 km away from summer capital.

Identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Rehman Dar, Shabir was off from his duties and was home for some time now. He lived in Bogund village.

Dar was shot from close range when he was just outside his home.

He was rushed to Kulgam district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said that the body of the deceased is still in District Police Lines Kulgam.

Shabir was selected as Special Police Officer in J&K Police before being confirmed as Constable. Currently, he was associated with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He was unmarried.

To pay homage to the slain police cops, a wreath laying ceremony was held in DPL Kulgam, police said.

DIG South Kashmir, S P Pani, led the police officers and the cops in laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the Dar.
