This Ramzan last Friday, resistance leadership asks JK Muslims to raise voice against ‘atrocities’

Srinagar: The joint resistance leadership on Wednesday asked Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir to raise voice against “atrocities being committed by Indian forces on people of Kashmir”.

Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement said that, as in past, people of Kashmir will observe Juma-tul-Vida as Youm-e-Quds and Youm-e-Kashmir this year as well.

“On this day,” they said, “voice of protest will be raised in Mosques, Khankahs, Shrines, Imam Badas across the Valley against the atrocities being committed by Indian forces on people of Kashmir and for reclaiming of Bait-ul-Maqdas and Masjid-e-Aqsa.”

“A resolution in this regard would also be presented in the gatherings for the endorsement of the people,” the statement issued by the Hurriyat Conference (M) quoted the joint leadership as having said.

“While the people of Palestine have been struggling for the past many decades, the people of Kashmir have also been giving huge sacrifices in terms of life and property for the exercise of the right to self determination,” they said.

The leadership expressed dismay over the indifference of the international bodies towards these “burning” issues.  “These two issues have quite a resemblance, where the issue of Palestine has been posing a threat to the peace of entire Middle East, the unresolved Kashmir issue is a big challenge for the permanent peace and stability of South Asia.”

“In both regions, the people are facing aggression as a result, human lives are being lost and grave human rights violations are being committed on regular basis,” the statement added.

The leadership has stressed upon the United Nations, the OIC and other countries of the international community to play a positive role in the resolution of both these issues.
