Militant killings: ‘Instead of bloodshed, India should resolve Kashmir,’ says Jama’at

Srinagar: Under the cover of search operations, the Indian forces have started the process of harassing and intimidating the common masses throughout the valley turning their lives into a hell, alleged Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir.

Condemning this “act devoid of all human, moral and legal justification besides a blatant violation of all the fundamental human rights”, Jama’at said, “the people are forcibly stopped from attending the funeral prayers of those martyred during the encounters thereby debarring them from performing their religious duties against which when people protest peacefully, these forces personnel use unabated power resulting in the further killings and injuries to the innocent persons.”

Jama’at is the largest socio-politico-religious organisation.

“So far hundreds of innocent persons have lost their lives and hundred others got injured during such tyrannical actions by the Indian forces,” Jama’at said in a statement.

After Kakpora encounter in which three youth namely Shariq Ahmad, Majid Ahmad, both residents of Kakpora and Shabir Ahmad from Padgampora got “martyred”, the people were forcibly stopped by the government forces from attending their funeral prayers and during this process another innocent youth Tawseef Ahmad Wani, s/o Ghulam Hassan Wani, r/o Tengpuna, Pulwama “lost his life” and dozens others got seriously injured “due to indiscriminate shelling by these brute forces”, Jama’at statement detailed.

“The Indian government has adopted a condemnable retributive attitude towards the people here. Instead of taking concrete steps for resolving the Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of the common masses permanently, the Indian government is bent upon to crush the genuine voice of the people by dint of force and declare the people demanding their just right as terrorists only to defame them and mislead the international community whereas the Kashmiri people have come to roads to make the world aware of the fact that their fundamental and birth right of self-determination has been forcibly usurped,” Jama’at maintained.

Jama’at-e-Islami while expressing its anguish over the “stubborn and tyrannical attitude” of Indian government towards the Kashmiri people, appealed the world community (UNO) and the human rights bodies to come forward and exercise their influence practically to “save the Kashmiri people from the government sponsored terrorism and tyranny” and help them in getting their fundamental right of self-determination as promised to them through the UN security council.

Further, Jama’at while paying rich tribute to all the four “martyrs”, expressed deep sympathy with the affected families.
