Arresting traders unlawful, frustrated and cowardly act of Government: JKCC

Srinagar: Following the alleged arrest of traders across the valley, the members of the Jammu & Kashmir Co-ordination Committee (JKCC) on Tuesday said that they “had announced a peaceful programme to protest against the GST implementation in Jammu & Kashmir which will compromise the fiscal autonomy of Jammu & Kashmir”

The leaders of JKCC were arrested or put under house arrest in the early hours of the morning. Among the arrested were Kashmir Traders Manufacturers Federation president, Yaseen Khan, who was arrested from his residence.

Dr. Mubeen Shah was confined to his house.

“The JKCC protests against this unlawful, frustrated and cowardly act of the Government”, members of JKCC said.

APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that “they extend full support to the JKCC in the wake of JK Government’s decision to implement GST in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Mirwaiz said that people of Kashmir “will tooth and nail oppose all moves aimed at eroding the special status of J&K.”

It is deplorable that every move to raise our voice on any matter is met with force and repression,” he added.
