Govt committed to bring out ‘Srinagar Master Plan’: Asiea

Srinagar: The minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Asiea Naqash on Thursday said that the Government is committed to bringing out a comprehensive Srinagar Master Plan.

“The decision to revise the master plan was made to ensure that there is no discrepancy in it” she said, while speaking at an event organized by The Institution of Engineers to discuss the Master Plan of Srinagar city (2015-35).

“Utmost care has been taken to include every component in the Master Plan of Srinagar city” she added.

The Minister said that the experts have already chalked out a strategy to upgrade the existing land use plan, population growth, urbanisation, transportation, heritage conservation plan, tourism projections and policy, lake conservation policy etc.

During the event, the Minister was apprised about the features of Master plan which generated a discussion among participants. While interacting with the participants, she asked them to come forward with “their recommendations and suggestions — to be incorporated into the draft.”

Khurshid Ganie, Chief Information Commissioner, stressed upon experts to make “optimal use” of resources for creating a sustainable infrastructure.

“There is a need to incentivize the private planners, colonizers and entrepreneurs to create a satellite township,” he said.
