Army man, girl killed in ‘Pak ceasefire violation’ along LoC

Srinagar: An Army man and a nine year old girl have been killed in a cease fire violation along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

The trooper identified as Mudasir Ahmed of Tral was killed when his bunker was hit by mortar shells.

The Army in a statement to the NDTV has said that the ‘father of two loved his job to the core’.

Saida, the nine year old girl who hailed from Balakote was killed in the Poonch sector.

Pakistan allegedly violated the ceasefire and Indian troops retaliated with full force, the Army statement added.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said, “Pakistan, initiating the attack, resorted to the unprovoked targeting of the Indian positions on the LoC in Bhimber Gali sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The indiscriminate firing using small arms, automatics and mortars that started from 7.30 a.m. is still on.”

DDC Rajouri, in a statement said that two more civilians have been seriously injured in the ceasefire violation and schools have been shut for an indefinite period.

“Two civilians have been seriously injured. Schools are closed for an indefinite period of time and evacuation will be done once there is break in firing,” DDC Rajouri told news agency ANI.

After a heavy exchange of fire, the Director General of Military Operations India and Pakistan spoke to each other over a hot line.

According to the Army seven persons, including army men were killed in ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir in July this year.
