Shah sent to 7-day custody by Patiala Court

New Delhi: Hurriyat leader Shabir Shah, who was produced in the Patiala House Court earlier in the day, was sent to a 7-day Enforcement Directorate custody on Wednesday.

Seven other Hurriyat leaders including Nayeem Khan, Bitta Karatay of JKLF, Syed Ali Geelani’s son in law Altaf Fantosh, Hurriyat (g) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar, Geelani’s personal secretary Peer Saifullah, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal and Hurriyat (m) spokesperson Shahid ul Islam were sent to 10 days NIA custody by the same court on Tuesday.

The Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik in a statement had said that they have nothing to with Nayeem Khan and Bitta Karate.

Hurriyat leadership had also said that the NIA raids were a ‘war weapon’ against the Kashmir cause.

It’s also pertinent to mention that NIA had told the Indian Express that the top Hurriyat leadership (SAS Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik) might also be arrested, if needed.
