Another youth perishes in another incident of senseless violence: NC on civilian killings  

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) on Wednesday condemned the killing of a civilian, Firdaus Ahmed of Kakpora.

Ahmed was killed after government forces opened fire to disperse protesters near the encounter site in Hakripora area of Pulwama on Tuesday. Top militant commander Abu Dujana and his associate were killed in the fire fight.

Expressing grief and sorrow over the loss of one more young life, National Conference Provincial Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar in a statement extended heartfelt condolences to Khan family.

“Another young man has perished in another incident of senseless violence. Violence has consumed an entire generation in the Valley and continues to devour our young. NC has always espoused the path of dialogue and believes that it is the only way forward in resolving the vexed issue of Kashmir,” Dar said in a statement.

He added, “We reiterate our commitment to work towards resolving the political issue in Jammu and Kashmir and create an atmosphere of peace, justice and tranquility.”

Meanwhile NC Patron Farooq Abdullah had congratulated the forces for killing Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Dujana in Pulwama district on Tuesday.

“I hope the security forces continue to do such good work, so that there is peace and calm in the state,” Abdullah said.

Abu Dujana and Arif Lelhari, were killed in a gunfight with forces in Harkipora area of Pulwama district of south Kashmir earlier today. Reports said that people from all the surrounding villages of Pahoo, Kakapora and Newa marched towards Hakripora where a gunfight started early morning.

Government forces deployed in the area used live ammunition, pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters who pelted them with stones.

Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik strongly condemned the police and paramilitary force’s action on the students and the youth who were protesting in various colleges and schools against the civilian killing in Pulwama.
