LeT owns up to Highway attack at Nowgam

Srinagar: The militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has claimed the responsibility of attack on CRPF patrol on Nowgam Bye-Pass here on Saturday evening.

According to a report in CNS, a news agency, defence sources said that a CRPF personnel was injured in the attack. According to reports, the soldier got hit in his thigh and his condition is stable.

According to reports, the militants fired upon a 23 battalion CRPF, injuring a head constable, a wireless operator.

While claiming the responsibility of the attack on Indian security forces at Nowgam Srinagar, LeT spokesman Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement to news agency CNS said, ‘Mujahideen of Lashkar-e-Toiba attacked an Army convoy at Nowgam and the Army has suffered many casualities’

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is one of the largest and most active militant organizations in South Asia, operating mainly from Pakistan. It was founded in 1987 by Hafiz Saeed, Abdullah Azzam and Zafar Iqbal.

Its stated objective is to introduce an Islamic state in South Asia and to “liberate” Muslims residing in Indian Kashmir.
