Mobile internet services suspended in Anantnag and Kulgam
Srinagar: Two Hizb militants have been killed in a encounter in Khudwani area of Kulgam district, Director General of Police S P Vaid tweeted.
An official also informed that an over ground worker was arrested during the operation.
He said forces launched a cordon and search operation in Khudwani area of Kulgam district early today following “specific information” about the presence of militants in the area.
During searches, the militants opened fire at the forces. “The fire was retaliated by the forces, leading to a gunfight,” he said.
Vaid also informed that two weapons were recovered from their possession.
The slain militants were reportedly identified as Sayar Ahmad Wani and Dawood Illahi Khan.
The OGW arrested during the operation was identified as Arif Sofi, said the official, adding he was apprehended with a pistol.
Meanwhile, mobile internet services were suspended in Kulgam and Anantnag districts to ‘prevent spreading of rumours’.
