Lashkar, Hizb condemn Tral grenade attack

Srinagar: Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen has condemned the Tral attack and blamed the Indian agencies for it.

Mahmood Shah, Chief Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has strongly condemned the grenade attack in Tral and said: “the attack by perpetrators is a reaction to the proceedings in United Nations on Kashmir”.

“India can never sabotage the freedom struggle of Kashmir by such cheap tactics. We will never allow such ill-fated plots to succeed,” LeT said in an emailed statement.

“We condemn this dastardly attack on civilians. This attack is the brainchild of Indian Agencies who want to defame the Kashmir Freedom Movement. The attack was aimed at to create a wedge between militants and the local population,” Hizb Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin said.

He has also said that Operation Field Commander Muhammad Bin Qasim has expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.“Those involved in the attack will be exposed,” he said.

Three civilians were killed and more than 20 injured, including policemen, when an unidentified person hurled a grenade towards a police party in Tral of Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

Reports say that the attack was actually aimed at PWD minister Naeem Akhter’s motorcade when it was moving through the town.

The death toll of the civilians in the Tral grenade attack has gone up to three, reports said. There is at least one more person who is stated to be seriously injured.

The slain civilians were identified as Pinty Kour, Ghulam Nabi Trag and Mohammad Iqbal Khan.
