Kashmir, Jammu chambers vow to fight jointly for business issues

‘Will desist from commenting over regional conflicting issues’

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) and Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) on Friday formally united and decided to fight for the business related issues and developmental issues jointly.

Both the chambers while addressing a presser at the KCCI office said that they have also decided to desist from commenting over the regional conflicting issues.

KCCI President, Javed Ahmad Tenga told reporters that they have unanimously decided to highlight their plights and to pressurize the government over their demands.

Stating that the Jammu and Kashmir is one among the most peaceful places in the world, Tenga said, “We appeal the people across the globe to visit Kashmir to see its natural beauty here.”

However, they refused to comment on issues like GST rollback and Article 35-A. “We have come to discuss common issues here,” they said.

He said that the government has ignored the advices of the stakeholders in latest master plan lacks commercial space and parking space.

Tenga also said that the developmental projects in the state are awaiting competition. “The flyover in Srinagar, which is under construction, was delayed. We have requested the government to fix accountability to the officers involved in delaying the competition of the project,” he said.

He also said that the government in the cabinet meeting also announced the Industrial policy for the state but unfortunately that is yet to be implemented.
Tenga also said that the growing braid chopping incidents in Kashmir must be stopped forth with. “We appeal the Director General of Police (DGP) to investigate the matter and nab the culprits soon,” he said, adding that they have apprehensions over the government for disallowing the victims to speak over the incidents.

“We (both chambers) as part of the society will come up with a strategy to protest against these events,” he said.
