Normal life affected as restrictions imposed to prevent protests against braid chopping

Srinagar: State authorities imposed restrictions in parts of the summer capital Srinagar on Monday to prevent any protests against braid chopping incidents.

Normal life has been affected as public transport is off the roads.

The Joint Resistance Leadership had called for a strike today against the mysterious incidents.

According to the police, restrictions were imposed in the areas of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud.

Apart from transport, educational institutes are also closed. Shutdown is also being observed in other major cities and towns of the valley.

Private transport, however is seen plying normally at places where restrictions were not imposed.

Almost every day incidents of braid chopping are being reported from various parts of the valley, however police is yet clueless about who are the criminals.

Director General of Police SP Vaid on Sunday had said that he too is looking for a ‘magic wand’ in order to nab the criminals.
