Modi likely to visit Gurez today to celebrate Diwali with forces

Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Gurez today to celebrate Diwali with forces.

Sources told KNS that the Modi will be visiting some areas in the Gurez sector. Sources also said that the Prime Minister will be received by the Chief of the Army staff.

“The Prime Minister will reach here to spent a few hours with soldiers,” sources maintained.

Sources said that Army Chief General Bipin Rawat who has landed in Srinagar yesterday to review the situation has already arrived in Gurez.

Sources said that Prime Minister will have lunch with the forces.

The Army Chief yesterday was received by Lt Gen D Anbu, Northern Army Commander and Lt Gen JS Sandhu, Chinar Corps Commander.

“The Army Chief addressed officers in Badami Bagh Cantonment and complimented them for providing excellent military leadership in the most challenging circumstances. He also commended all ranks for their relentless pursuit towards achieving the objective of bringing in peace and normalcy to the Valley,” a defence spokesman has said.
