It was due to sacrifices of the local police that forces contained the 2016 uprising: DGP
Srinagar: Minister of R&B and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri addressed the function on the Police Commemoration Day as Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had to skip due to bad health on Saturday.
Veeri, while lauding the role of the cops, said that politicians were safe because of them only.
“Jammu and Kashmir Police has played a very important role in safe guarding politicians and people alike,” he said adding that police has played a vital role in maintain law and order in the state.
Veeri also maiantined that the Jawans of police have laid down their lives to secure the people in turbulent times.
He however pointed out that the police should also showcase their ‘humanitarian face’ as people have a lot of expectations from them.
Director General of Police, S P Vaid, while addressing the force said that it was due to the sacrifices of the local police that the forces were able to control the situation in the 2016 uprising.
