Geelani condemns NIA summoning Salahudin’s grandson, raids on his house in Kashmir

Denounces arrest of Abdul Rashid Hakim, G A Gulzar

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani strongly condemned the arbitrary and coercive act of raiding the house of United Jihad Council (UJC) chief Syed Salah u Din and summoning his grandson, Muzamil Ahmad Khan to Delhi by the NIA and said that it is folly being played by authorities to harass and scare the resistance leadership from representing the people’s sentiments and their just political struggle.

Terming the summoning and raid of UJC chief’s residence as an act of political vendetta, Geelani said and that Muzamil Ahmad Khan is a student and such coercive actions are aimed to tarnish his educational carrier.

These arbitrary actions won’t break his resolve, said Geelani and added that his family is being victimized for his dedication and commitment with the ongoing freedom movement.

Also denouncing arrest of Hurriyat Leader and chairman Muslim Democratic League, Ab Rashid Hakeem, Hurriyat Chief spokesperson Gh Ahmad Gulzar, continuing house arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mohammad Ashraf Laya and barring people from offering Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid for last 5 successive Fridays, Huriyat conference termed it an act of “political vengeance”.

Huriyat said that people in state are facing worst type of state sponsored terrorism since 27th October 1947 when India forcibly occupied Kashmir and arrests, restrictions and strangulating people’s aspirations are now becoming the daily routine.

Hurriyat expressed its deep concern over the plight of detainees in Kathua jail and said that the behaviour of jail authorities is inhuman. The detainees are denied their rights and locked for almost 24 hours and are allowed to move out from their respective barracks for mere one hour.

Blaming authorities for creating grave yard silence, Hurriyat said that all these repressive and coercive measures won’t break our resolve or deter us from pursuing the cherished mission, and added that while being committed and faithful to movement, our leadership and people will take mission to its final destination, despite all these arbitrary measures and bullying by authorities.

Geelani also denounced authorities for filing charge sheet against noted and prominent religious scholar, Dr. Zakir Naik.

Syed Ali Geelani said that Naik always pleaded for mutual harmony and brotherhood between different communities and never propagated hatred, instead remained instrumental for promoting education and conveyed the peace message of Islam.

The allegations leveled against Dr Zakir Naik are bundle of lies and he is simply being implicated for preaching true message of Islam, added Geelani. Authorities are misleading their people and hence leveling fake and fabricated charges against the prominent scholar and educationist like Zakir Nayak, added Geelani.
