‘Shutdown against Cordon operations that have martyred armed youth’, says JRL

Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have asked people to observe complete shutdown on Sunday, November 19.

The call comes as a mark of protest against the cordon and search operations being carried out by Indian armed forces in the valley, during which dozens of armed youth have been martyred since the last week, in various areas including Hajin, Pulwama, Zakura and other places

Paying tributes to the martyrs, the Joint Resistance said in a statement that ‘as severe state repression continues and there is stubbornness on the part of Government of India with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, a section among the youth feels forced to find expression to their political aspirations by resorting to armed means.’

JRL reiterated that Government of India should stop the killings and instead resolve the internationally acknowledged Kashmir issue in accordance with internationally accepted means of dispute resolution so that precious human lives are not lost and peace and security prevails in the region.
