Srinagar: Nearly 30 delegations called on the Government of India’s representative, Dineshwar Sharma on Monday to continue the process of sustained dialogue at Hari Niwas in Gupkar area of Srinagar.
Sharma started meeting delegations in the morning and was busy meeting them till this report was filed.
Officials in the district administration, who are facilitating the meetings of delegations, told KNS that around 30 delegations called on Sharma at Hari Niwas, amid tight security arrangements.
The delegations included students from Kashmir university, flood victims, Radio Kashmir employees, State Employees of SRO 202, Peace Front Kupwara, Khadi Gram Udyog Federation, Pak migrants group among others.
Official sources said the delegations raised the issues of basic facilities, resolution of Kashmir issue through peaceful means and lack of good governance in the state.
Sharma is on the second leg of his visit to the state which began from Jammu, Pulwama visit on Sunday, and he is likely to visit Anantnag town tomorrow to meet delegations there.
After its hard stance on Kashmir, BJP government on October 23 announced to carry sustained dialogue on Kashmir through Sharma by talking to all stakeholders to understand legitimate aspirations of people in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, till now, the major stakeholder, Hurriyat, has rejected the process, while prominent trade bodies of the valley have stayed away from meeting him.
Earlier, he visited the state and met nearly 100 delegations which included political, apolitical and civil society groups.
