Mis-governance affecting day-to-day life across Valley, says Omar Abdullah

NC Working President presides over Party’s Provincial Committee meeting in Srinagar

Srinagar: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Saturday said an unprecedented, acute crisis in the delivery of basic governance was affecting day-to-day life across the State.

Addressing Senior Leaders, Legislators, District Presidents and Office Bearers of the Party, at the Party’s monthly Provincial Committee Meeting held at Party Headquarters ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah said the unprecedented and acute power crisis coupled with the Government’s apathy had crippled day-to-day life across the length and breadth of the Valley.

“The state of misgovernance and administrative chaos in the Valley has affected the day-to-day life of the people and is a cause of misery and suffering. The power crisis is severe and serious and there seems to be no sense of urgency or direction from the Government to address this issue despite the harsh weather that makes lack of electricity a major concern. Repeated pleas and desperate appeals from civil society groups and local residential committees from across the Valley that one reads in newspapers every day seem to be falling on deaf ears as the Government has apparently decided to derive sadistic pleasure from the sufferings of the people”, the National Conference Working President said.

The NC Working President also expressed disappointment at the ongoing ration and essential supplies crisis that has engulfed the Valley since the past few months. “A ration crisis in winter is unacceptable and highly condemnable. Mismanagement and apathy is at the root of this issue and the Administration has failed to address the ration crisis ever since the implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State. The long, harsh winters makes this callous and arrogant behaviour of the Government tragic”, the NC Working President said.

The National Conference Working President also reviewed various party initiatives and outreach programs of the party in all the Districts of the Valley and sought details in inputs from the Party District Presidents. Asking the party leaders to continue with the outreach mechanisms and said every effort should be made to involve youth in the party’s political and social initiatives aimed at serving the people at the grassroots level.

The Provincial Committee Meeting was also addressed by National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and was attended by Senior Leaders including Party Vice President Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Chief Spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Tanvir Sadiq, YNC Provincial President Salman Ali Sagar, Provincial Secretary Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir, State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu in addition to Party District Presidents and Constituency Incharges.
