Kashmir University students protest against ‘faulty’ semester system

Srinagar: The faulty semester system introduced by Kashmir University has been giving headache to the students who are accusing the University administration of wasting their time and money.

The students from 3rd and 5th Semester pursuing graduate courses from different colleges of Srinagar city Saturday assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar and staged a protest against Kashmir University administration.

They said due to faulty semester policy, they are unable to complete their degrees in stipulated time.

“Exams for two semesters are being conducted in a year. It takes almost 6 months to complete the exam of one semester. We don’t get time for studies,” the students said.

The students from 3rd Semester said they are in Ist year for two years. They demanded that joint examination for their 3rd and 4th semester should be conducted in June next year.

Similarly, the students from 5th Semester demanded that their 5th and 6th semester examination should be conducted before May next year.

When contacted, an official from Kashmir University said that they are mulling to hold joint examination to save the precious time of the students.
