Assault on govt employee lands 70-year-old Kashmiri in jail

SRINAGAR, June 22: A local court in Ganderbal district of Kashmir has sent a 70-year-old man to jail for attacking and injuring a government official discharging his duty.

Judicial Magistrate Ummi Kulsoom handed one month’s simple imprisonment to Mohammad Ramzan Tantray and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on him after finding him guilty of the charge.

Tantray had assaulted Engineer Abdul Rashid and wounded him while the latter was on an official duty at Guzarbal in the district in December 2006.
