Kashmir’s Central University bags third prize in Kolkata competition

SRINAGAR: A video produced by two convergent journalism students of the Central University of Kashmir has bagged a prize in the short YouTube video competition organised in Kolkata.

Sameer Javid Wani and Mukhtiyar, third semester students at the Central University of Kashmir, stood third at a video-making competition organised by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) and Vigyan Prasar, Government of India.

Their video “TB – the Global Burden”, was shortlisted along with 22 other entries from a total of 175 submissions made from all over India.

They received the prize – a trophy, a citation and a cash prize of Rs 25,000 – from noted parallel cinema actor and Oscar nominated director of Paheli, Amol Palekar on January 7 at National Science Council Museum, Kolkata during the Indian Science Congress 2013.

The competition was open to all producers, media centres, television channels and media schools across the country.
