SRINAGAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) on Monday took strong exception to senior separatist leader, Syed Ali Geelani’s announcement of transferring the property, he was living-in, to a trust.
JeI said that the veteranleader was just a custodian of the property that legally belonged to Jamaat, News agency KNS reported.
A statement issued to the agency said that the religious group held a meet of its Shoora (council) under its Ameer (head) Mohammad Abdullah Wani wherein it was unanimously agreed by all that the property of Jamaat-e-Islami at Rahmat Abad Hyderpora would remain in custody of Syed Ali Gelaani till his life.
“After that Jamat is authorized to take final decision over the property.”
The statement remarked that the meet discussed the news that the property has been donated to a charitable trust by Geelani.
“A letter has been shot to Huriyat (G) Chairman and also a senior member delegation will meet him in near future to ascertain the facts,” the statement said.
Last week Geelani had made an announcement that he had donated all his property at Hyderpora to an eight member charitable trust. The names of the trust members were not disclosed.
