You can’t enslave Kashmiris: Abdullah to GoI

‘New Delhi can’t solve Kashmir unilaterally, have to take all shades on board’

‘PDP’s crackdown on separatists on behest of their ‘masters’ in Delhi’

‘Defeat PDP, reclaim your honour and dignity’

Ganderbal: National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that New Delhi cannot solve the Kashmir issue on its own and they have to take all shades of ideologies on board. Abdullah was replying to Home Minister Rajnath Singh who recently said that the Government of India is ready to solve the Kashmir issue.

Abdullah, who is contesting the parliamentary elections from Srinagar came down heavily on the People’s Democratic Party for caging separatists who were on their way to attend the Pakistan Day celebrations at the country’s embassy in New Delhi.

“Putting Hurriyat leaders under house arrest or under detention will worsen the already fragile situation rather than solving anything”, Abdullah said while speaking at a joint election meeting of National Conference and Congress in Ganderbal.

The former chief minister said that PDP’s crackdown on separatists has been carried on the orders of their ‘masters’ in New Delhi.

“Separatists were proceeding on their way to Pak Embassy in New Delhi to attend the Pakistan Day celebrations but the action of the government to put them behind bars will further compound the stalemate in Kashmir, “he said.

Abdullah ‘cautioned’ the Government of India that they cannot ‘enslave’ Kashmiris and urged the local populace to stand up against anti-Kashmir forces.

“People of Kashmir have always fought for their honour and dignity and would continue to do so despite suppression. People should stand united and foil all machinations of anti-Kashmir forces, “said Abdullah while addressing the joint election rally with Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra.

The NC President mentioned that the PDP came into power in 2002 by saying that they were the voice of all those who had picked up the gun. However, after coming to power, militants were the first target of Late Mufti Sayeed.

“However, soon after taking over the reins of administration, the then Chief Minister unfolded hidden agenda of their masters in New Delhi and made the militant commanders and cadre his first targets, “ adding that people have to reclaim their honour and dignity by defeating the PDP in the upcoming by-polls.

He reminded the PDP about their broken promises of repealing AFSPA, return of power projects, return of Kashmiri Pandits and jobs for youth. He said that after an anti-BJP campaign, the alliance of PDP with them has vindicated his stand.

“I am cautioning you again this time against treacherous role of the PDP, which is employing all dirty tricks to fool the people again. You have to remain strong and steadfast and resolve to defeat PDP by your vote in the elections, “Abdullah said.
