Students have a right to protest but within four walls of campus, says EduMin Bukhari

‘The private school owners were asked to look into the job security of the teachers as they are rendering services on meager salaries’
Srinagar: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Wednesday said that private schools are partners and contributors of the Government in imparting education to the people.

The Minister said this while speaking at Second Education Conclave organized by Joint Committee of Private Schools where he was chief guest on the occasion, an official spokesperson for the J&K Government said this evening.

He said that grievances and issues of the private schools will be addressed at the earliest and asked the private school owners to look into the job security of the teachers as they are rendering services on meager salaries.

He said that like Government teachers, he is supposed to address issues and concerns of private school teachers as well.

On the occasion, the Minister raised the issue of students joining different coaching centers despite being enrolled at different private schools.

He said that despite paying a hefty amount, students visit coaching centres which means there is some issue which needs to be looked into by the private school authorities.

While commenting on the recent protests by students in different educational institutions, Bukhari called for safeguarding academic interests of students.

He said that students have a right to protest on the campus to agitate for their rights, but when they take to streets it becomes a law and order issue.
