Sabzar Killing Backlash: Curfew welcomes ‘Ramzan’ in Srinagar

Srinagar: The J&K Government has imposed strict restrictions in the summer capital to prevent “situation from further deterioration”.

On Sunday – when Muslims all over the world will be observing the first day of the holy month of Ramzan – the district administration Srinagar has issued directions to impose curfew in the areas coming under atleast eight police stations of the city.

Speaking to the FreePressKashmir, Srinagar’s administrative head, Dr Farooq Lone said, “We have already imposed strict restrictions (in Srinagar).”

“To prevent any further situation of deteriorating law and order situation,” he said, “we have declared curfew in the areas coming under eight police stations till further orders.”

Early today, police said that two militants of Hizb ul Mujahideen were killed during a gunfight in Tral area of Pulwama district.

The gun fight started last night in Saimoo village of Tral resulting in death of top Hizb commander, Sabzar Ahmad Bhat, and a teenage militant, Faizan Muzaffar Bhat.

The duo belonged to main town Tral which witnessed massive protests as the news about the encounter spread. The protests spread across Kashmir following Sabzar’s death.

At least 50 people have been injured in protests across the valley as the news of the Sabzar’s death spread.

Meanwhile, District Administration Ganderbal has imposed section 144 in the area due to the prevailing situation in the valley.
