Tral Encounter: Bodies of Sabzar, Faizan received with wet eyes, cries

Srinagar: The J&K Police have handed over bodies of two slain militants to their family members in Tral on Saturday evening.

In a gunfight with armed forces this morning, two Hizb ul Mujahideen militants were killed.

They were later identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and Faizan Muzaffar Bhat.

Sabzar, who joined Hizb in 2015, was a trusted aide of the charismatic Hizb commander Burhan Wani, whose death in 2016 triggered a massive anti-India uprising, resulting in the death of close to one hundred civilians.

A JKP cop posted in Pulwama district said that the two bodies were handed over to the kin of Sabzar and Faizan, at Police Station Tral around 6 PM. However, he did not give any further details.

“Overall, the situation is under control,” he replied to a question. “There is minor stone pelting but situation is ok.”

Faizan, a tenth standard student, joined Hizb on March 04 this year after he snatched a rifle from the armed forces personnel.

One civilian was killed while as fifty others were injured during massive protests across Kashmir, following the death of Sabzar and his teenage aide Faizan.

Doctors at the district hospitals in three districts: Pulwama, Anantnag and Shopian told the FreePressKashmir that thirty civilians were hit by pellets and were being treated.

Eight civilians were hit by bullets in Tral one among whom later succumbed to the injuries.

One 12th standard student was hit by a tear gas canister in his head, and was rushed to SMHS Hospital Srinagar where he is being treated.

“Thousands of people have gathered in Tral,” a scribe from the area said, “the Namza-e-Jinazah will be offered today only.”

He added that atmosphere is emotional in Tral as men, women, children have come on road amid pro-freedom sloganeering. “Women are seen weeping while others showered flower petals on the bodies,” he said.
