Five LeT OGWs along with arms arrested in Hajin: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday said that its cops recovered huge cache of ammunition and arms in Bandipora’s Hajin area.

J&K Police spokesperson in a statement said, “an input was received by this formation through cultivated human sources that one Wagon-R vehicle is roaming in between Chandergeer, Hajin, Shahgund and Gundjahangeer areas, carrying Militants/OGWs and their illegal arms/ammn.”

The police said that they are “planning” to carryout militant activities.

“Acting upon this input, today on 1st June 2017 in dawn the operation was planned, police party from Hajin Police Station and 13-RR laid a special Naka at Khusarpora Hajin axis, leading to recovery of huge cache of arms/ammn, which was meant to be supplied to LeT militant group operating in the Shahgund and Gund-Jahangeer areas,” the statement said, “during naka checking one white Color Wagon-R vehicle bearing registration No. JK15-6569 was intercepted and 05 boarding persons including driver were questioned.”

The statement said that the driver of the vehicle revealed his name as Bashir Ahmad Mir, s/o Ab Ahad Mir, r/o Paribal Hajin and other revealed their names as: (1) Mohd Younis Bhat, s/o Sonaullah Bhat, r/o Chandergeer; (2) Shabir Ahmad Dar, s/o Ab Majeed Dar, r/o Chandergeer; (3) Hilal Ahmad Parray, s/o Gh Ahmad Parray, r/o Kochak-Mohalla Hajin; (4) Sonaullah Dar, s/o Gh Ahmad, r/o Gundjahangeer Hajin.

“The extensive search of the vehicle/personal search of the persons boarding the vehicle was conducted and 10 grenades were recovered. Besides, 02 AK-47 Magazines and 27 rounds of AK rifle were also recovered from the vehicle. All the accused persons were taken in custody and vehicle was seized and case FIR No. 34/2017 has been registered in P/S Hajin,” the police statement said.

“During preliminary investigation, accused persons revealed that they along with Inayat Ahmad Parray, s/o Mohd Akbar Parray, r/o Hajin were working for militant group of LeT as OGWs. The consignment was handed to them by Inayat for further distribution,” the statement added.
