Srinagar: Indian Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat, reached Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday amid heated up borders.
Gen Rawat is likely to hold a conclave of the senior Army officers about the security scenario in the Valley.
While gen arrives in Srinagar, three officials of were wounded as the armies of India and Pakistan exchanged heavy fire and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
The officials, part of General Reserve Engineering Force (GREF), were working on Dabraj road of Mendhar when a mortar shell landed near them.
The injured have been identified as Radha Krishnan, Mohammad Parvez and Sarvan Kumar. They were rushed to Mendhar hospital where from two of them have been referred to GMC&H Jammu in serious condition.
There have been four incidents in four days this month, beginning with the bloody attack on a cash van on May 1 during which militants shot dead five policemen and two bank security guards, and including two attacks in two hours in adjacent villages in Pulwama.
The incidents coincide with the spike in militancy and mass protests that followed the killing of Hizb ul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani last July.
