Srinagar: Many areas of Anantnag town on Saturday observed a shutdown against the alleged highhandedness of Indian armed forces.

Fire had caught many shops in Reshibazar area of Anantnag destroying many business establishments.

Addressing the media today, United Traders Federation, Anantnag, alleged that the police are hatching “conspiracy against the business community” of the district.

“It was inability of the police that traders faced loss of lakhs of rupees,” they said.

Demanding immediate action against the culprits, the traders demanded compensation to twenty eight businessmen and households whose shops along with the merchandise and houses were gutted.

Informing that the Mehbooba Mufti led government was planning to shift the DC Office Anantnag from Lal Chowk to some other place in the district, the traders said, “before taking such a step, the business community of Anantnag must be taken on board.”

Mehbooba represents Anantnag assembly constituency in J&K Legislature.

Appealing to Chief Minister Mufti to look into the matter personally, the traders told the administration that if their demands are not met immediately “then they will have to face harsh consequences in near future”.
