Government announces 50% rebate to boost tourism, says, ‘tourists are our ambassadors’

Srinagar: The J&K Government on Saturday announced 50 percent rebate on travel packages and lodgings to boost tourist arrival to the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) will provide a 50 percent rebate, from booking a room to a full tour package, to help a tourist in customizing the tour to the Valley at half the original price, to provide a much needed boost to the tourism sector.

The Corporation has its properties at prime tourist resorts across the State, be it most sought after designations like Gulmarg or leisure places at offbeat destinations like Aharbal and Kokernag, with arrangements for a comfortable stay.

Managing Director JKTDC said that currently the Corporation has an accommodation capacity of 1750 beds and runs 7 restaurants and cafeterias across the state.

It also has a fleet of vehicles which caters to the transportation needs of the tourists.

He said that unlike other states, Jammu and Kashmir offers all the tourism products like pilgrim, leisure, trekking & mountaineering, golf, MICE, heritage, culture, art and craft, film shooting and water sports.

Due to its unmatched beauty and moderate temperature, the Kashmir valley has been the first choice for the travelers, he added.

The MD said that Kashmiris are most hospitable people and tourists who visit Kashmir are ultimately our ambassadors.

He said that the Tourism Department is planning to organize more trips for tour operators, media persons so that they will see by themselves that the tourist destinations in Kashmir are not only totally safe but also offer great enjoyment.

He said the Corporation has pre-designed tour packages and travelers can also customize their tours themselves by logging on to the website at jktdc.co.in.

The travelers can also book their tour itineraries at the Corporation’s travel offices in Mumbai, Chennai, New Delhi, Ahmadabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad or in Jammu. The tourists can also send their holiday package requirements at [email protected].
