Three suspected militants die, one army man killed in Nowgam gun fight; two JAKLI troopers injured in Uri ‘attack’

Srinagar: Three suspected militants died while one soldier was killed in a gun fight in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district.

Army claimed that three militants were killed on Thursday morning.

One more militant was killed during the firing later between militants and army troopers in Nowgam sector taking toll to four.

“Three infiltrators were killed in Nowgam sector,” defence spokesperson Col Manish, said.

The gun fight is going on along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district.

Col Manish claimed that “three weapons and other war like stores” were recovered from the spot.

Meanwhile, two army men were injured in a suspected militant attack near the LoC in Uri sector of Baramulla district late Wednesday night.

The troopers of 4 JAKLI came under fire from militants near Kikkar Post and Anil Post at Gohalta Top in Uri sector after they were concluding a search operation in the area last night.

The injured troopers were identified as Farhat Ali and Sepoy Vijay Sharma.

They have been shifted to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.

Attempts to reach Srinagar based defence spokesperson, Col Rajesh Kalia, by the FreePressKashmir for his comments did not materialize.
