Srinagar: A cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched in Qammarwari area as well as the commercial hub of Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Saturday.
There were reports that suspected militants were present but the police rubbished the reports.
“A CASO was launched in Qammarwari and Lal Chowk areas of the city on Saturday. There was no presence of militants in the areas,” a police official posted in the Srinagar city told Free Press Kashmir.
City centre Lal Chowk witnessed a CASO after a very long time.
The operation was jointly launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police and the security forces.
The spokesperson of the JKP, Srinagar Police Chief and the Srinagar based defence spokesperson didn’t respond to calls from Free Press Kashmir.
