Srinagar: The authorities of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hazratbal Srinagar are fearing repercussions of Indo-Pak title clash in the campus, thus it has issued advisory notice directing students to maintain discipline while watching the cricket match.

India and Pakistan are playing final of Champions Trophy 2017 in The Oval in England today. Pakistan is batting first and has already crossed 250 mark in first fourty hours of the game.

However, to avoid the repeat of student clashes in its campus during or after this match today, NIT barred its students from moving out of the campus in the afternoon.

On June 16, the NIT Srinagar administration issued a notice stating that the campus gates will be closed after 5 pm on Sunday and no students will be allowed to leave.

The notice was signed by the Dean Students Welfare, who is also in-charge of the security.

In April last year, the campus witnessed clashes between Kashmiri and non-Kashmiri students after a group of Kashmiri students allegedly celebrated India’s loss against West Indies in the T20 world cup. (KNS)
