Geelani says, ‘war-like strategy in offing as govt reviving Ikhwanis’

Syed Ali Geelani, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairperson, who is under house continuous detention at Hyderpora.

Srinagar: Paying glorious tributes to two slain militants who died fighting Indian armed forces in Pazalpora area of Sopore in Baramulla district, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani said that they “bravely and willingly offer their today for our tomorrow”.

Geelani expressed his serious concern about setting up of new and more armed forces camps in Shopian and said, “setting these camps amidst civilian population is highly condemnable.”

“Youth are on the forefront of the movement and laying their precious lives,” All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chief said blaming Indian authorities for political uncertainty in state.

Three more militants died in Kakpora in Pulwama district on Thursday morning.

“Their stubborn attitude is the root cause of appalling situations and continuous bloodshed in state,” Geelani, who continues to remain under house detention, said in a statement.

“We are not being allowed to mourn even our slain youngsters,” observed Geelani and while denouncing authorities for laying curbs on condolences meeting in memory of slain militant, Adil Ahmad Mir in Pampore, Geelani justified the resentment shown by youth saying, “our youth were taking up arms to put an end to slavery and this barbarity.”

“It is not just a passion, however, a growing resentment among youth and it is the outcome of unending curbs on political activities, stubborn attitude and has created political uncertainty in the state,” he said.

“Our youth are quite disheartened as peaceful activities are denied,” Geelani asserted and added: “the insensitivity and unconcern of authorities in New Delhi is the sole reason for this unabated bloodshed. Youth have no option but to resent this age-old slavery and take arms to defend their rights.”

“They are putting a huge responsibility on our shoulders to honor these sacrifices and take the movement to its logical end,” said Geelani while referring to slain youth.

Extending condolences to bereaved family, the octogenarian Geelani said, “we share the grief and pray for the strength to the grieved families to bear irreparable loss.”

Meanwhile, APHC said that Kashmir issue is a human and political issue and can’t be solved through “coercive measures”.

Referring to authorities in Delhi, APHC Hurriyat said, “they are pursuing power politics and utilizing all their muscle, might and mettle to muzzle our voices.”

“We will never succumb to pressure,” said the Hurriyat Conference while referring to arrival of more rubber bullets and upgraded PAVA shells for Indian armed forces based in Kashmir. “Supplying more arms and ammuntion can never help authorities to subdue our freedom sentiments.”

The APHC quoitng “reliable sources”, disclosed that “authorities have chalked out a war-like strategy”. “Reorganizing Ikhwan type renegades and use of more force is on cards,” it claimed.

“In Nagisharen in Shopian, a new military camp is being set up after 10 years. Such new camps are being set up in nook and corner and renegades are engaged to join Ikhwan folds,” said Hurriyat Hurriyat Conference led by Geelani.

“Pellet gun has been decalared a lethal weapon and now in addition to this more rubber bullets and smoke shells are being added to their armory,” it said.

“You are following a pointless destination,” APHC said addressing the authorities. “All these tactics will prove just momentary; military might won’t solve this long pending issue.”

The Hurriyat Conference while referring to “Ikhwan culture and Indra-Abdullah accord”, said, “all these cosmetic approaches proved as inoperable steps and nothing could be expected by resorting to power and arrogant politics.”

“In nineties when Ikhwan culture was regarded as the ultimate power, but uprisings in 2008, 2010 and 2016 proved that all these cosmetic approaches and devilish tactics proved futile and a failure step,” the Hurriyat Conference observed.

Ridiculing Indian authorities, the APHC said, “military might won’t help Delhi and Kashmir being a political issue needs a realistic approach  and  instead of relying on heartless approach and arrogant strategy, Kashmir issue needs to be resolved through political will and vision.”
