Indo-Pak troops exchange fire along Line of Control in Naushera sector

Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan on Sunday exchanged heavy mortar fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

The two nuclear armed neighbouring countries had agreed to maintain ceasefire along the LoC and interntaional border in J&K, however, the agreement has been violated hunderds of times by the two nations.

A defence personnel based in Jammu said that Pakistan army posted along the LoC allegedly resorted to firing in Naushera sector from 6:30 am.

The Indian Army men also resorted to heavy firing from their side.

The two armies resorted to indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatic weapons, and mortar shelling.

The exchange of fire comes days after an attack by an alleged Pakistani special forces team, Border Action Team (BAT), that came 600 metres inside this part of divided J&K across the LoC into the Poonch sector.

The BAT allgedly  killed two Indian army men and it (BAT) lost one member in retaliatory action, the army said.

Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani and Indian forces used automatic weapons and shelling mortars and violated ceasefire along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Many lives have been lost because of the ceasefire violations across the LoC.
