Arrest of Hurriyat leaders prior to NIA questioning extremely deplorable: Joint Resistance

Srinagar: Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik termed the arrest of Hurriyat leaders by the forces as part of a political vendetta.

“It is a display of revenge against them, through might and arm twisting methods. Delhi is leaving no stone unturned to crush every voice raised in the valley expressing Kashmiri peoples’ sentiment and aspirations”, they said.

In a joint statement, the leadership said that continuously asking Hurriyat leaders to report at the office of NIA in New Delhi, and confining them to a room for the whole day just to harass and scare them by questioning is extremely deplorable.

“Such totalitarian moves are being adopted by Delhi and its agencies with a view to pressurize the pro-freedom leadership in Kashmir and weaken the people’s struggle, ” the leadership said.

The statement also added, “All these illegal and unethical methods cannot cow down the leadership or in any way deter people from their just struggle nor can they help in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute.”

The leadership condemned the Arrest of Altaf Shah, Ayaz Abar and Mehrajudin Kalwal in this regard.
