Well said Sir, says Omar after Modi’s statement on cow protection

Srinagar: National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that killing in the name of cow protection is unacceptable.

The former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter, “Well said sir. Here’s hoping the people carrying out these despicable acts take your words to heart and act accordingly.”

Modi, while speaking at a seminar to mark the centenary of the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad said that ‘Killing people in the name of Gau Bakhti will not be accepted.’

He added, “Let’s all work together. Let’s create the India of Mahatma Gandhi’s dreams. Let’s create an India our freedom fighters would be proud of.  “No person in this nation has the right to take the law in his or her own hands.”

It is pertinent to mention that a protest named #NotInMyName was held in Delhi and other parts of the country against the lynching of minorities in the name of cow protection. The protest also took place in various other parts of the world too.
