Joint Resistance Leadership condemns Anantnag attack

on Monday condemned the militant attack in Anantnag were killed.The JRL in its statement said that it “has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the Killing of Amarnath Yatris in Anantnag today and strongly condemned it.”The JRL added that “this incident goes against the very grain of Kashmiri ethos.The annual Amarnath Yarta has been going on peacefully for centuries and is part of our yearly rhythm and will remain so.”

The leadership said that “our heart goes out to the families of the bereaved and we express our heartfelt condolences to them.”

Seven Amarnath pilgrims were killed and eleven injured, four of them critically, on Monday evening after a suspected militant attack on the government forces in Batengoo, a village between Khanbal and Bejbehara, an area of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Muneer Khan said the attack was ‘aimed at forces, not on yatris.’
