9 year old girl crushed to death by Army vehicle in Shopian

Srinagar: A 9 year old girl was crushed to death after an army vehicle ran her over in Algar village of Zainapora area in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday.

Protests erupted in the village soon after the accident, and the girl was rushed to the hospital.

The girl, identified as Arooba, a second standard student, was critically injured after an army vehicle hit her.

She was rushed to CHC Zainapora where she succumbed to her injuries.

Protests erupted after the news of her death spread in the area.

Government forces resorted to using teargas shells to disperse the protesters who were demanding that an FIR be registered against the army.

Reports said that some teargas shells landed inside the hospital premises.

In Kangan area of Central Kashmir, a woman was critically injured after she was hit by a tipper in Ganderbal district on Thursday.

A police official said that Sara Begum, wife of Mohammad Amir Lone, resident of Bonizilla Kangan sustained serious injuries in her leg after she was hit by a tipper near main market Kangan here.

 She was shifted to Trauma hospital, Kangan from where she was referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar.
