Thrashing of cops: Even those who aid state oppression were not spared, tweets Mirwaiz

Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday while reacting to the thrashing of policemen in Ganderbal tweeted that ‘even those who aid state oppression were not spared.”

Mirwaiz added in the tweet, “Sad to hear about the severe beating of Kashmiri policemen by army by virtue of being Kashmiri even those who aid state oppression not spared!”

Six policemen, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were injured after army men thrashed them, and ransacked the police station, for allegedly stopping their vehicle at a check-post in Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district late Friday night.

SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone said that the incident occurred after army soldiers in civvies were not allowed to move ahead during night hours, and that they have taken up the matter with the army higher ups who have ordered an inquiry into the incident.

“Army soldiers came and ransacked the police station. Some of the policemen are injured,” Fayaz said.
